Sharing God’s goodness to transform our world

JESUS, WRECK MY PLANS!

Proverbs 19:21 (NLT) says “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.”

Every day I make plans. My day is generally planned to a T. From waking up, to my work day and what I’m going to do after work. Not many of my days and aspects of my life are unplanned. I’m a bit of a control freak and when my plans get wrecked, I get frustrated. More times than not, a wrench gets thrown in my plans. Meetings run over, things get cancelled, that relationship doesn’t work out, you don’t get the job, fill in the blank for whatever plans you’ve made.

I always think my plans are great. Then when they don’t work, I get mad. But God is faithful to reveal his plan and purpose. Not always in my time, but in His perfect timing. A while back, a big plan I had made for my life didn’t work out. To be honest, I was angry. I questioned God, “Why God, this was what I wanted?”. He spoke to my heart in that moment “My daughter, why do you not trust that MY plans are better?”. He brought back to remembrance so many times in my life that my plans had been wrecked, but His plan prevailed and was so much better than the plans I had made for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I still make plans. But my prayer now when making them is “Jesus, wreck my plans that don’t line up with your will and let yours prevail!”

The lyrics to one of my favorite songs right now “Whole Heart (Hold Me Now)”, says “Once I was broken, but You loved my whole heart through. Sin has no hold on me, ’cause Your grace holds me now. And that grace owns the ground where the grave did, where all my shame remains. Left for dead in Your wake, You crashed those age-old gates. You left no stone unturned. You stepped out of that grave and shouldered me all the way.”

He doesn’t leave stones unturned. Whatever stone or plan in your life that hasn’t been turned or fulfilled yet… Friend, he doesn’t leave them unturned or unfulfilled. It may not be in our timing or way, but he’s still rolling stones, he’s still wrecking plans and giving us so much better than we could have planned for ourselves.

Take a few minutes out of your day and be encouraged by the song I spoke of!
