Sharing God’s goodness to transform our world

Jesus Cleanses the

12 And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. 13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.”

Matthew 21:12-13, English Standard Version (ESV)

Less than a week before His death, Jesus got angry and flipped over some tables. There are several hypotheses as to why He was moved to the point of anger. We think it was because of this: money-changers and folks selling sacrifices were taking advantage of people who had travelled long distances to celebrate Passover. We also believe that Jesus was pointing to the end of the temple system and ushering in His new and better covenant.

With that being said, here are some things that will cause us at
The Table to want to flip over some tables.

When we say religion, we mean a list of manmade rules and traditions that make us feel like we have to work our way to God. We don’t like religion, matter of fact, we hate it. Watering down the wonders of Christianity to a simple set of checkboxes, do’s, and don’ts is a slap in Jesus’ face. So needless to say, we will flip a table over to upend religion and invite others into a loving relationship with Christ.

Galatians 3:28 says, “There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Inequality is something that will cause us to flip over the proverbial table (or maybe even a real table). We believe that every human life has dignity and value. Everyone has a specific purpose and a destiny, regardless of gender, race, age, etc.

Jesus was always an advocate for people who were physically or spiritually poor, hungry, thirsty, or downtrodden… and so are we.

Bad coffee

We would probably fight someone over bad coffee. Just kidding… maybe.

Lack of fun

Christians have the promise of an abundant life that begins RIGHT NOW. Because of this, we believe that Christians should have more fun than anybody. And we are doing just that!

And lastly, we don’t expect to agree on everything at The Table – matter of fact, we hope that people think for themselves and pursue a unique and personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. However, we won’t budge on the following:

That God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to show us how much He loves us. He came to defeat sin, hell, and the grave so that we could live the abundant life, both now and forever. He also came to change the way all of humanity saw and related to God.

So come on in, pour yourself a good cup of coffee, and have a seat at The Table. We can’t wait to tell you how good God is… He will change your life!
